Utah Contractor Insurance Requirements Updated for 2026: $1M / $2M Minimum and New H100 HVAC License Rules
UPDATED MAY 1, 2026: After industry pushback, the Utah DPL amended the original $3M aggregate proposal down to $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate. Effective April 20, 2026, all Utah-licensed contractors must meet the new minimum. The H100 HVAC classification also gets new experience, exam, and certification requirements — plus a fingerprint-based background check coming January 1, 2027.
